An Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) is a confidential employee benefit designed to help you deal with your personal and professional problems that could be affecting your home life or work life, health and general wellbeing.

The University has partnered with Health Assured to provide this service to all University employees, your partners and dependants.

All employees and their partners at the University of Oxford have access to the free Will Writing Service provided by The Taylor Lucas Partnership. For details and to book an appointment, visit The Taylor Lucas Partnership website.

The University Club provides social, sporting and hospitality activities for all staff, postgraduate alumni and retired staff and associated institutions of the University. The University Club building is located on Mansfield Road, opposite Mansfield College and incorporates a lively Club bar, where members can view all Sky sporting events whilst tucking into delicious food, a cafe which serves food all day until 1700, along with various sporting facilities including a Gym and Floodlit 5-aside Football pitch.

All University staff are eligible for preferential membership rates at the University Sports Centre located on Iffley Road.  The extensive facilities include: athletics stadium, football pitch, water-based 3G astroturf, tennis courts (four hard courts, six grass courts), two four-court sports halls (one with a glass floor – the first in the UK),  fitness studio, Dojo martial arts hall, three squash courts, cardiovascular (‘Pulse’) gym, powerlifting gym and a 25m competition-standard swimming pool.  The sports complex also offers fitness classes and has two meeting rooms which are available for hire.

Membership of the facilities is required. Retired members of staff are eligible for the same membership rates as current staff. Staff may apply to join any of the 86 sports clubs.

If your department classes you as a DSE 'user' you are entitled to request an eye test. Your departmental administrator will arrange for you to visit one of the University's nominated opticians and reimburse the cost of the test.

In addition, where the nominated optician reports that a new or altered prescription for spectacles is required specifically for VDU use, the department will contribute £75 towards the cost. Full details are available on the Safety Office website.

Sickness

If an employee is on sickness leave, they are entitled to payment at the rate of full salary in the first instance (which will be inclusive of any payable Statutory Sick Pay (SSP)) for such period as their department may determine.
