Information about the Pay & Conditions Steering Committee, its meetings and activity
Steering Committee members
Established in spring 2023, the Pay & Conditions Steering Committee reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor and Council. Its membership includes staff from across the collegiate University and draws on expertise and perspectives from other Higher Education Institutions and other sectors.

- Professor Matt Jarvis, Professor of Astrophysics, Associate Head (People) for MPLS Division, Member of Personnel Committee
- Dr Markos Koumaditis, Human Resources Director
- Professor Catherine Law (external), Emeritus Professor at UCL
- Rupert McNeil (external), former Government Chief People Officer, and Group HR Director of Lloyds Banking Group
- Bob Price (external), a former HR director and former Leader of Oxford City Council
- Lucinda Rumsey, Supernumerary Fellow in English and Senior Tutor, Mansfield College
- Professor Tim Soutphommasane, Chief Diversity Officer
- Dr Ignacio Torrecilla, Senior Postdoctoral Research Scientist
- Professor Anne Trefethen, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, People & Digital
- Adrian Walcott, independent workplace culture consultant (joined Sept 2023)
The project team supporting the committee is made up of members of the University's Human Resources and Internal Communications teams.
Steering Committee meeting dates and papers
The Pay and Conditions team endeavours to publish minutes from each Steering Committee meeting within three weeks, mindful that there are several external committee members who are volunteering their time to support this review.

Review timeline
13 May 2024 – Council meet with a view to agreeing next steps before outcomes are shared with all staff
April/early May 2024 – Discussion with divisional and college leadership, and through University committees; further discussion as part of the Week 1 Council meeting of Trinity term, on 22 April
March 2024 – Review findings and implications discussed by Council
February 2024 – Review findings reported to Council
January 2024 – Steering Committee met to agree recommendations to progress to Council
December 2023 – Initial findings shared with the Vice-Chancellor
November 2023 – Staff feedback form closed
October 2023 – All-staff Town Hall meeting on Pay & Conditions; nine staff focus groups convened
September 2023 – Pay & Conditions FAQs launched
August 2023 – Staff feedback form opened
June 2023 – Benchmarking and data analysis work began
June 2023 – First Steering Committee meeting
May 2023 – All-staff Open Forum on people, pay and conditions
May 2023 – Pay & Conditions webpages launched
April 2023 – Steering Committee formed and Project Charter agreed
February & March 2023 – Project team and administrative resource assembled
January 2023 – Report commissioned in the Vice-Chancellor’s Admissions Speech
