New: The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (furlough)

The Government’s Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) allows the University to reclaim 80% of the salary, up to a cap of £2,500 per month (plus some employer’s on costs), for staff who have been ‘furloughed’. Employees or workers are eligible to be furloughed if, because of the pandemic, they are not able to work:

  • because of their caring responsibilities, or
  • because there is not enough work for them, or
  • because they cannot do any work remotely.

New guidance on how the CJRS will be implemented at the University is now available including Guidance for line managers, FAQs and template documentation. Read the full CJRS guidance.

A supplementary guidance note for HAFs/DAs and HR Managers was also circulated through the Registrar's cascade to divisions and departments on 28 April.
